NCC Reiterate its commitment towards Quality Delivery

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida said digital transformation serves as a vital catalyst for economic growth, emphasizing that it is no longer a matter of choice but an imperative for the sustainable economic advancement of the nation.

He noted that the Commission has been unwavering in its commitment to fostering a robust digital economy that promotes inclusive growth, generates employment opportunities, and enhances the global competitiveness of Nigerian enterprises. The National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (2020–2030), formulated by the Federal Government, delineates a clear roadmap towards the attainment of these objectives, with a focus on broadband penetration, digital literacy, and the cultivation of a vibrant digital ecosystem.

Also, the Ministerial Strategic Blueprint for Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy provides the requisite impetus for this transformative journey. This comprehensive framework is built upon five pivotal pillars: Knowledge, Policy, Infrastructure, Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Capital, and Trade. Knowledge forms the foundation upon which innovation flourishes, supported by sound policies. Infrastructure constitutes the indispensable backbone of a thriving digital economy, while innovation and entrepreneurship propel economic diversification. The pillar of trade underscores our dedication to global collaboration and partnerships, acknowledging that innovation transcends borders.”

To this end, the Commission has articulated its Strategic Focus Areas, recognising that each stakeholder – be it the Consumers, the Licensees and Industry, or the Government – possesses distinct perspectives and expectations. Consequently, the Commission’s strategic vision is guided by its mission to fulfil the specific aspirations of each stakeholder group.

In alignment with the Ministerial Strategic Vision Plan, the Commission is actively advancing the digital landscape by supporting various digital economy initiatives across the nation. These efforts encompass a broad spectrum of activities, including conferences, summits, regional technology gatherings, digital and technology-oriented training programmes, talent hunts, youth entrepreneurship, and empowerment schemes. Furthermore, deliberate measures have been undertaken to facilitate knowledge-sharing events on the digital economy and workshops on emerging technologies. The Commission is also conducting extensive studies on incubation and innovation hubs, digital entrepreneurship, technological advancements, and the promotion of indigenous content within the telecommunications sector.

NCC Boss concluded by affirming the Commission’s resolve to champion a forward-looking digital economy agenda that aligns with national aspirations and global best practices.
