16 Days Activism on GBV: NAWOJ,
SHE Forum Africa Kick Against GBV
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), in partnership with SHE Forum Africa, led by Bassey Ita Ikpang, Chairperson of NAWOJ and Inimfon Etuk, Founder, SHE Forum Africa, paid a courtesy visit to the Sarki, ONA’s Palace Abaji, today.
The FCT Rural Chiefdom Advocacy is in line with 16 days activism to end Gender Based Violence. It is also a collaborative campaign to deepen community level awareness through the instrumentality of rural Chiefdom authority; prioritize preventive measures and access for justice for survivors of GBV.
Also it is meant to intensify advocacy commitment and investment in localized solutions tied to prevention measures to ending violence against women and girls in Nigeria; forge and strengthen male led allyship within the traditional institution to end GBV for good and reorient Media Professionals on responsible Media reporting around GBV.
The Emir however, appreciated the campaign team and urged married couples to become peace ambassadors and set good examples in the society.
The campaign on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a yearly global campaign that takes place from November 25 to December 10. The objective is to raise awareness about GBV, promote advocacy, and mobilize communities to take action against GBV.
Its originated in 1991, initiated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership.
Each year, the campaign focuses on a specific theme.
