African Youth Conference –
THINKING OF CHANGE MATTERS, BUT ENGAGING POSITIVE ACTION, MATTERS MORE
The annual African Youth Conference (AYC) is set to launch its third edition, with the themed: “THE CREATIVE MIND- Building Sustainable Ideas for Long-Lasting Solutions.”
The event will be held on the 17th of August, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the International Conference Center (ICC), Herbert Macaulay Way, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, Nigeria.
The event will focused on bringing together youth leaders, policymakers, and industry experts from across Africa, to address critical issues facing Africa’s youth.
With AYC’s aim of advocating and working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the upcoming event is targeted to educate and empower young Africans to think beyond themselves and to become catalysts for positive change.
In Africa, we have lots of issues like; Hunger, Lack of Quality Education, Environmental degradation, Insecurity, and many more… that have plagued our continent. So, with different voices speaking and yearning for positive change, we must band together, to work towards the change we hunger for. And, through this platform, we seek to create an atmosphere that fosters collaboration, encourages dialogue, and ensures that every voice is heard, every voice valued and equipped with the right knowledge and competencies to effect relevant change in their slice of the continent.
The goal of this platform is to inspire actions that will prompt a positive impact in our communities and beyond. To do so is why this conference is a step in the right direction, because it brings together like minds, to raise awareness on the SDGs, to educate, and encourage the youths of their potential as agents of change as well as the critical role they can play in accelerating progress towards achieving sustainable development in our country Nigeria, and Africa as a whole.
In this third edition, the three (3) core SDGs that will be spotlighted are; Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Climate Action (SDG 13) and it is at the core of our objectives that by the end of the conference; Every person present, gets enlightened on what the SDGs entail and how we can work towards successfully building effective systems and structures that will achieve these goals long-term in creating a sustainable future for the continent.
Also, we hope that through this conference, we bridge the gap between Youth leaders, Industry experts, and Policymakers, so that collective efforts can be harnessed to address the three (3)pivotal Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) brought to the fore, and for the right message of resilience, Innovation, and a shared commitment to shaping Africa’s future echo.
