IWD: Stakeholders call for women inclusion in various spheres of life

The GreenLand News Magazine in conjunction with Young Entrepreneurs and Innovators Foundation, (YEIFOUNDATION) organised a Lecture/Award to mark International Women’s Day recently in Abuja.
The event which has the theme, “Invest in Women-Accelerate Progress,” #Inspire Inclusion#, gave award recognition to men and women who have supported women in fields of human endeavours. Amongst whom are: Uche M. Mbanaso Ph.D. Professor of Cybersecurity and Computing, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nikky Ufondu, an actor and a producer, Managing Director/CEO Gemini Luxury Homes, Imperial Luxury Interiors and Nikky Productions; Dr. Hajiya Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, Director of the FCT Education Resource Centre, Abuja, Assoc. Prof. Hauwa’u Muhammad Mainoma, Director for Gender Studies and Coordinator Long Vocation Programme, Admin and Planning, Nasarawa State University, Keffi and Nutrition International, for taking the lead in providing evidence based, low-cost and high impact Child Survival, Adolescent, Maternal and Newborn health and nutrition programs in Nigeria and globally.

Hajiya Kudirat Abosede Abdul-Hamid, the immediate past Auditor General Federal Capital Territory (FCT), first keynote speaker

In her keynote speech, the first keynote speaker, Hajiya Kudirat Abosede Abdul-Hamid, the immediate past Auditor General Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said event is meant to honour remarkable individuals, both men and women, who have tirelessly championed women’s empowerment and inclusion in various spheres of life.
She expressed deep appreciation to mentors, advocates, and inspirers who have guided, empowered, and uplifted women.
Adding that their dedication and commitment not only transformed individual lives but also contributed to the collective advancement of society.
According to her, “Today, as GreenLand News Magazines and the Young Entrepreneurs and Innovators Foundation come together to commemorate International Women’s Day, we do so with a special emphasis on the uniqueness and significance of every woman present. Each one of us, with our distinctive talents and compassionate hearts, plays an integral role in shaping the world around us.”

Speaking at the occasion, the second keynote speaker. Amb. Dr. Mrs. Sameera Abubakar Abdullahi, National Coordinator, Better Life for Children and Women Future Foundation, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), MHS Universal Investment Limited, and Founder, Samaan Oil and Gas, said we live in a world where women continue to face barriers and challenges in various spheres of life; either in accessing education, pursuing careers, or participating in decision-making processes. Women often encounter systemic obstacles that hinder their progress. However, despite these challenges, women have shown remarkable resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to overcoming adversity.”

In her welcome address, Amb. Dr. Peace Ofeoshi, the Editor-in-Chief of the GreenLand News Magazine, said the month of March is dedicated to women because of the activities marking the international women’s day and mother’s day.The Media and CSO’s did a lot of publicity, campaign and advocacies for women.”
“The purpose of the event is to honour men and women who have supported, trained, mentored, empowered and inspired women in the society.
Exceptional and Exemplary men are included because of the key role they played in the lives of women. They helped them to achieve their goals in different fields of human endeavours.
The theme for 2024 International Women’s Day: “Invest in Women Accelerate Progress,” #Inspire Inclusion# is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. Amb. Dr. Peace said.
