Directorate of Technical Aid Corps to Align Mandate with President Tinubu ‘s Foreign Policy Vision* — DG Buba
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusufu Maitama Tuggar has commended the Director-General, Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC),Rt.Hon.(Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, for seeking to reposition the Agency to align with the foreign policy vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Amb.Tuggar,who stated the above , Monday, in Abuja during the inauguration of a Committee of experts drawn from various disciplines and sectors to review the TAC Scheme documents,also added that the TAC Scheme was truly in the centre of President Tinubu’s 4-D Foreign Policy Agenda having encompassed all the Ds, including Democracy, Development, Demography and Diaspora in its operationalization.
Earlier speaking in a welcome address, Buba noted the many years the TAC Scheme has helped to push Nigeria’s soft- power diplomacy across the world , especially,the Agency’s recipient countries in the African, Caribbean and the Pacific Regions.He said that diplomatic and cultural ties have been strengthened by the Scheme and observed the need to infuse new ideas, ideals and innovations into the Scheme for a better service-delivery in line with the vision of Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
While appreciating the coming of the Hon.Minister,who just ended a major Retreat of the Ministry on Sunday, the DG said:
“I would like to assure you that we do not take this for granted.”
He also noted the vision the Agency has continued to draw from the Hon. Minister’s programmes and activities and re-iterated his appreciation for the Minister’s pace-setting efforts and commitment to nation-building through quality service -delivery.
He decried the state of the physical infrastructure he met at the Agency’s headquarters and called for support in his efforts to reposition a Scheme he said has run for about thirty-five years in order to align it with the vision of President Tinubu in his quest for all-round national development.
The former Federal lawmaker said experts of various backgrounds, including International Relations, ICT, Political Science as well as Law,Finance, Public Administration,Security and the like, have been brought together to work for five days and to tinker with the TAC Scheme documents and urged the Committee to bring the full weight of their collective expertise to bear on the exercise.
In his goodwill message, Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Donor Partnerships, Dr. Dapo Oyewole expressed support for the vision of repositioning the TAC Scheme for better profitability in the Tinubu Administration. He expressed confidence in the ability of the new DG to drive the process , especially,given his antecedents as a former Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the 9th House of Representatives.
Among members of the Committee, chaired by Prof. Yusuf Zoaka,are Amb.Sani Bako,Dr. Sani Adamu and Dr.Louis Solomon. Others are Prof. Friday Atidoga,Amb. Ijeoma Bristol, Amb. Chidi Okafor, Hon. Jimoh Olajide as well as Ms Mitchell Mamnyer Nyugba.
