The Silent heroes of Social Justice and Humanitarian Experts across Africa have been honoured at the recently concluded 2nd edition of the West African Humanitarian Refugee and IDPs Settlement Conference held in Abuja. The Humanitarian service awards, which honours individuals and organisations who contributing selflessly to community development in Nigeria and inclusion in Africa.

At the conference today, Mr. Emmanuel Osemeka received an award of Humanitarian service by the Coalition of Humanitarian organization on Refugee and IDPs.

Mr. Emmanuel Osemeka , is the Country Director, Social Welfare Network Initiative (SWNI ). The NGO is a community based humanitarian organization aim in saving lives and changing destiny, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

According to Osemeka Emmanuel, he was among the first humanitarian actor to set up a livelihood programme for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and returnees in Madagali and Michika local government areas of Adamawa and Gwoza in Borno State.

He said that the centre took the risk of reaching areas considered inaccessible and dangerous at the peak of the Boko Haram activities at a time when other NGOs could not.

Mr.Emmanuel says, We will never relent until the children of Nigeria have more access to quality healthcare, good schools and convenient learning environments as well as no infringement on their basic human right. Children are the most vulnerable population. It is our duty to protect, guide and be their support system. They are seeds that must be planted, watered, nourished and above all protected in other for them to grow.

It is pertinent to note that the social welfare network initiative key focus is on children with areas of intervention that includes Child health, child right and child education as well the vulnerable society.

He disclosed that as part of the numerous projects carried out is the building of schools in Borneo state, construction of earth Dam for 80 thousands people, Farming support to 63,000 thousands households and Rehabilitation of housing for vulnerable people as well the distribution of food items.
