The Africa Legacy International had again in June, 2022, organized an epoch- making event to marked the 11th Nigeria International trade fair/expo 2022 in Abuja with the theme, “Diversification as a catalyst to our National Development”.the event witnessed the presence Kado Fish Market Association, FIRS, amongst others as participants.

While delivery his keynote speech at the occasion ,the Chairman, Kado Fish Market Association (KAFMTA), Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Said, “The kado Fish Market was one of the drivers to the diversification of the Nation’s economy”.

Mr Ibrahim Mohammed also noted that the market was in daily supporting the stomach infrastructure and the food security of the Nation, saying that fish market supports the economy of the Nation with a daily production of over seventy thousand(70,000) tons valued at fifty million naira(50,000000).

Mr chairman maintained that fish was the cheapest and one of the best sources of protein, stressing that the Association was planning to establish the world best standard exportable fish processing plant in abuja to boost the production of local use and export; he stated that such processing plant when completed could turn around the economic, social, health etc of the country positively by a way of removing more than 10,000 youths annually from the street.

Mr Ibrahim also disclosed that the propose plant would be serves as a tourist center, creates jobs for the teeming Nigeria youths as well as help in economy sustainability when completed

He solicited the support of the Federal government to create an enabling land space within the FCT and it’s environ where the project could be cited, stating that the Association commended the federal government for it’s gesture and supports rendered during the construction of the cassava project in Benue state, and the rice mills project at Argungu in kebbi state.

Mr chairman pleadged to support diversification agenda of the government in order to boost the economy sustainability of the Nation at large.

According to the chairman, kado Fish Market initially started in Wuse in 1996 during the administration of General Sani Abacha, and it was later moved to the present location, then commissioned in 2005 by Mallam El Rufai, the then FCT Minister.
