ENGINEERING IN NIGERIA IS GROWING — ENGR. VALARINE AGBARAGBA

The Fellow of Nigeria Society of Engineers and the General Manager of Renewable Energy , Niger Delta Power Holding Company of Nigeria , Engr. Valarine who spoke to Newsmen at the just concluded induction ceremony for new Engineers , says Engineering in Nigeria is growing. We are heading toward the right direction because we have a better relationship with government and private sector. We are building a better collaboration with stakeholders in both private and public sector.

While speaking on the capacity of the new members, she says we have put them in the right direction for quality work delivery.

She said , induction of the new members is the things of joy , it means we are growing and we are mentoring new ones into field of Engineering for better production , we have exposing them to better practice of engineering standard and how to effectively maintaining the role and ethics of the profession.

Saturday Greenland News, gathered from Engr. Valarine Agbaragba , that our Engineering system in Nigeria is growing fast . She urged the inductees to stand to defend their faith to work within the ethical conduct and regulations of the profession, give global standard in discharge of their duty , avoid short cut in service delivery.

She charged them to avoid misrepresentation at all levels. Their should take advantage of the mentoring system and skill acquired to deliver excellent practice at all times. She added that the inductees should give global standard in the discharge of their duty , maintain a good ethical standard and avoid cut corners as money is not every thing in delivery service.

Mrs. Agbaragba, advised the inductees to put in according to the global standard to redeem the image of engineering practice in Nigeria. The induction ceremony is the signification of good mentoring and growing as a profession. We exposing them to the global engineering practice.

Engr. Abdullateef Aliyu , the Guest lecturer, While speaking to Newsmen at the occasion, says focus and determination is what we need to build our Engineering sector in Nigeria. We should build our country by ourselves, our people are so intelligent.

” He maintained that , Engineers should build a strong networking system to enable them provide solution to the existing problem . He charged the people to be responsible in Capacity building to deliver result to the country. Adding that, people that have done it well in order countries are not better than us; we just need to think a little more to add flavor to our skills, he said”.

” In his statement, we do not need any expert from any where to develop our country, we need a clear definition of our blue print to forge ahead. We just need to be focused, determine and think of where we want to be . China and US did their own by themselves, we have a skills to develop our country.

“He commented the efforts of the stakeholders in this adminstration for putting in their best to change the face of our engineering sector. He pleaded with the Federal Government to create enabling environment for Engineering system to strive. Our educational system and Health need urgent attention, we need better infrastructure .

” He advised the inductees to be time conscious, plan and thinking well to widen the scope of their services. He urged them to go outside their circle to network with other professionals for better synergy of operation, this will help them to learn much and faster.
