Upcoming Lawyers have been charged to have area of specialisation and carve a niche for themselves. Mrs Ewuwuni Onnoghen-Theophilus said this while chatting with the GreenLand News today in Abuja.
Mrs Ewuwuni who organised a Public Presentation of her book titled: Construction Law in Nigeria- Second Edition, also encourage upcoming Lawyers to find an area of law to specialize in and carve a niche for themselves.
According to her, “ Work hard, be humble and learn from your seniors. Also, dream big and take steps towards achieving them.”
Speaking about the significance of the book, she said, “It is about the Nigerian laws that regulate the construction industry and its activities from start to finish and even after completion of the project.”
Mrs Ewuwuni, said the book is crucial in Nigerian Construction Industry. According to her, “ In my book, I focused on and reviewed four (4) standard forms of construction contracts being used in the Nigerian construction industry and I have examined the adequacy of our laws as regards digital construction methods which are now being used in construction projects both domestic and international.”
Buttressing on her source of inspiration and motivation, she said, “What motivated me to write the book – My father, Hon. Justice W.S.N. Onnoghen, GCON, retired CJN, told me to write one. I then looked around and saw that that there was no book on the Nigerian laws governing the Nigerian construction industry. So, I took my father’s advice and wrote one because there is a need to develop that area of our legal jurisprudence.”
She further said that her target audience are those in the construction industry.
In her words:
“Everyone who is involved in building any structure will find my book useful as it would guide you on your rights and obligations as regards the project you are about to commence. So, private persons, lawyers, arbitrators, architects, builders, quantity surveyors, engineers and other members of the professions in the built environment will find my book very useful.”
Dignitaries at the event includes Judges, Senior Advocates of Nigeria, relevant key Stakeholders including the members of the Press.
