The Climate Parliament has organized a Two Days Technical Capacity Building Workshop on Climate change Act 2021. The workshop which held at the City Centre REIZ Hotel , Abuja . The stakeholders from different ministries and Civil Society organizations were at the meeting to discuss issues on how to combat climate change and the Inauguration of National National Council on Climate change.
The climate Parliament is an international, multi- partisan network of legislators working worldwide to help solve the Climate crisis and accelerate the transition to renewable energy and to combat climate change.
The Parliament is pleading with the Federal government to urgently inaugurate the National Council on Climate change for full operation. Also , the appointment of Director General and the appropriation of funds .

According to Prof. Muhammed Tawfiq Ladan , the Director General , Nigeria Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and the lead Paper presenter at the workshop , expressed satisfaction and applauded the organizer of this event , promised better outcome and recommendation for climate change act 2021
While speaking to Newsmen at the meeting, he said the primary aim of this workshop is to remind the critical stakeholders or climate change agents of their roles to ensure the Climate change Act is implemented. The National Assembly that comes out with this Act has the responsibility of appropriate funds to enable the Council to carry out its activities.
” He says Climate protection is the Constitutional responsibility and National obligations . Climate should be protected to reduce the adverse effect on food security, energy and human life “, he said .
” He stressed the need for the inauguration of National Council on Climate change, he pleaded with Mr. President to fully Inaugurate the National Council on Climate change. The 2021 Act came out over seven months now , it is a right time for the Act to be inaugurated and implemented , he cried out.
” He call on Federal Government to appoint the New Director general that will driving the climate action plan as stipulated by the Act. He also, advised the Civil Society Organizations to lend their voices to federal Government to ensure the Chief Executive of the Climate change is appointed to move the activities.
” He maintained that , as soon as the Council is been inaugurated, and the Director general is appointed , we will proceed to add our voice for Regulations to be made as the Act says, after all aggressive planning advocacy is needed
GreenLand News gathered from Hon. Onuigbo Samuel , the Chairperson of the Climate change, that the threats from Climate change is real , we should take the matter serious. He promised to take from the lay down procedure from the bill as to achieve the very best as regard the Climate change. Our land is been degraded and shattered by the effect of this Climate change, let take it as a real issues .
The bill has accommodated all Climate experts, and we are working in collaboration with all agencies to see the desire result. What is needed is the inauguration of the National Council on Climate change , for appropriate action. ” We are looking forward to the Executive for urgent action on that, he added .
