The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) organised a Multi-Stakeholders Forum on the Safe Schools Declaration with the theme: “Making Commitment Reality: Towards the Abuja Conference,” today in Abuja.

In his address, the Executive Secretary,National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu Esq, said “this is in preparation for the upcoming Fourth International Conference on the Safe Schools Declaration (SSD) which will focus on ‘Ensuring Safe Education for all: from commitment to practice’.

According to him, “the Safe Schools Declaration was open for endorsement, 112 UN Member States have expressed political commitment to ensure the safe the general protection of education from attack.”

In his words:

“President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Safe Schools Declaration Ratification Document on the 31st of December, 2019, signaling the country commitment to it’s impementation in Nigeria.”
